A Field Guide to Borealis Breads - Page 3

French Peasant The Borealis French Peasant is a hearty mix of unbleached wheat flour, water, organic wheat flour, starter and sea salt. Enjoy this bread with a rich soup in cold weather or use it for sandwiches. Makes a fine peanut butter and jelly. This is one of our most popular flavors and can be used for just about any purpose. French Peasant comes in two shapes, the long loaf with four diagonal cuts and the round boule loaf with a star shape on top.

Italian Bread is important part of an Italian menu. Borealis Italian bread is rich and mellow, ready for any meal, Italian or not. It’s made in two shapes, the round-ended crusty long shape and the traditional pointed torpedo shape. The ingredients are unnbleached wheat flour, water, durum flour, starter and sea salt. Our Italian bread has eight diagonal cuts in mirrored rows of four giving it a pleasant, leaf-like appearance.

Olive is the bread for people who are really serious about food; when asked, the genuine food fancier will call for the olive loaf. This wonderful bread is built from Unbleached wheat flour, pitted mixed olives, starter and sea salt. It’s laced with olives and can be used for literally anything from a elaborate chicken salad with pesto and roasted peppers to a simple meal of warm bread and butter. The pocket loaf, folded over on itself, is welcome at any gathering.

Keeping Borealis Bread at Home There are no preservatives or trans fats in Borealis Breads so the shelf life is shorter than you may be used to. If you aren’t going to eat what you have in the first few days you should freeze it. The bread freezes beautifully. Don’t put this bread in the refrigerator. Store it on the counter in a plastic bag or, if you should happen to have one, an old-fashioned bread box.
